John uses a powerful word here—'testimony.' He speaks not of vague belief, but of well-founded certainty about eternal life. What is this testimony? Simply that God has given us eternal life, and that life is in His Son. There is no ambiguity about where life resides—not in our deeds or merit, but in Christ alone. Those who possess the Son possess life itself. It is both simple and absolute.
As we stand before this passage, we can ask ourselves: Do I have the Son? Do I hold Christ within me? If so, eternal life is already within you—not something distant in the future, but a gift already given here and now. Let us hold this certainty as we close out this week.

Lord who gives eternal life, I believe that this life already dwells within me. I am grateful to possess eternal life through receiving Your Son, Jesus Christ. Grant me to live by this assurance, today and tomorrow and all my days. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
