"Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"
— Ephesians 2:5-6

Paul emphasizes a single word throughout this passage: 'together.' Together made alive, together raised up, together seated. The Resurrection is not merely Christ's singular event—it is an event into which we have been drawn.
When dead in our transgressions. Paul describes the Ephesians' former condition with unflinching clarity. They were dead in trespasses and sins—spiritually lifeless, corpses in the eyes of God. Yet God raised them from that death. They did not resurrect themselves. The dead cannot rise on their own. Without grace, resurrection would be impossible.
Seated together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Notice this is written in the present tense. It is not a future promise; it has already occurred. At this very moment, our standing before God is that of those seated in heaven. Though our earthly lives may seem humble and small by worldly standards, our true position is already secured in God's kingdom.
As we conclude this Easter season, consider: what has changed within you this past week? How is this journey—beginning with the news of the empty tomb—reshaping your sense of identity and purpose today? May you live this week as one who has been made alive together with Christ, your position eternally established.
🙏 Today's Prayer
Gracious God, You have made me alive together with Christ, raising me from spiritual death. I confess that my past failures and transgressions are not my final chapter. Grant me to remember my true identity—one already seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. As I walk through this Easter week, let the power of resurrection gradually transform my daily life. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.
